About Sex and the CityThis is decidedly one of the best written and acted comedies I’ve seen in a very long time. The trials and tribulations of Carrie Bradshaw and her three friends is as riveting as it is true. As a straight male viewer of this show, I think that it gave me a lot of insight into the female aspect of a relationship and the world as a whole. This show also changed the way the public views women. Carrie and company are strong, self-sufficient women who even dislike serious relationships and the prospect of marriage. This is far from the housewife days of “Leave it to Beaver” and “Father Knows Best”.
Particularly stunning about this show is the acting. Although much has been said about the relationships between the stars of the show, the characters they portray have such a sense of reality and conviction that they seem like ordinary people trying to get by. Why this show was not awarded more is beyond me.
For anyone who wonders about human relationships and interaction, this funny yet sometimes surreal show is the perfect addition to your viewing pleasure.

A pop culture success. A launching of pro-sex feminism movement of the 90’s.
Back in 1998 when this series started on HBO many didn’t know what to expect or how to take it. Well everyone would learn over the years it would launch a new movement in how women looked at friendships, relationships, and sex and love. Plus this series was progressive and provocative that showed that women could enjoy sex freely and feel happy and independent about it. It focused on four single Manhattan women all successful with jobs lead by Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw who’s N.Y. city sex column was the shows backbone as she would always write about her experiences and give her thoughts on love and sex. And Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon as the elegant Charlotte and strong headed Miranda respectively did the same as Carrie by playing the field bed to bed in search of love. And my favorite Samantha played fabulous by Kim Catrall was the real man killer as the need and lust for more as her all time favorite hobby was sex. And the lines were well written and sharp with good acting, plus the sex scenes pushed the limit. I watched the show for the sexy women as in many scenes the gals would sport themselves wearing sexy colored bras and stylish lingerie. Most of all the show proved to cope with it all that friendship is important as clearly it launched a new meaning to single women everywhere.
