A fun and thoroughly entertaining series. When it started, it was more gritty with a slightly serious undertone… but over its evolution it has become way more tongue-in-cheek.
The characters have evolved, some characters have gone and others have been introduced… which has worked well in keeping it fresh. I have grow an affinity with each and every character (even Damian Dark, which I never thought I would say!).I have to force myself not to binge watch this… I want it to last as long as possible.
Legends of tomorrow is the best and greatest show to exist. I never heard of this show until I watched The Flash, and after that, I rewatched the dhow 5 times. 4 times cause I wanted to and the 5th time cause of season 5 coming out. So yea by far this is the greatest show.
Tomorrow never knows what it doesn’t know to soon.
I’ve watched most of the Berlanti-verse shows. Of those, though “Legends of Tomorrow” seemingly received the littlest fanfare, for me it was one of the better ones. The Legends of Tomorrow are a team of powered or skilled individuals charged with protecting the timeline from forces that would alter history. Though the make up of the team changes over the years, the Waverider is most commonly captained by Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) aided by the onboard A. I Gideon (Amy Louise Pemberton). Over the years relationships are formed, sacrifices are made and the world is saved, a lot.
I think the reason I liked “L. O. T” was that, whereas I think that the other series have fallen into a formula and are repeating storylines, the production staff decided, astutely, that if this was going to have an impact it would have to become different. So, without sacrificing the depth of some of the characters they changed the genre of the show to embrace much more knowing comedy and a variety of wilder ideas, which was very much to the shows benefit. Admittedly, if you were starting the show now, you’d probably still have to sit through those relatively dour opening seasons before getting to the better later seasons. Once you do though it’s a relentlessly inventive time.
I do think, perhaps, it’s only good comparative to rest of the shows in the Berlanti-Verse and is still several steps below something like “The Boys”. The time travel idea is well utilised across the run, even if, sometimes perhaps the budget doesn’t stretch to the time recerations. The characters are a mixed bag, I’d imagine that everyone would find some to root for and some they would hate. It does bring back Matt Ryan as John Constantine though, and, whilst still not exactly comic accurate it’s closer than the Keanu movie was.
If you only watch one series from this universe (and Titans isn’t available) then this is for you.
This campy light sci-fi has more depth and multilayered metaphors than so called serious contemporary shows.
Yes, I mean it, you can read the headline again. I speak only for Season 1, which starts as an average cosmic time travel low budget fun, but gets topical near the second half. While so called serious films and shows keep playing with fake things like elections, laws and government justice, Legends of Tomorrow (season 1) gives us the real picture of the world – everything is rigged, everything is a lie. Of course, it’s not as deep as Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voyager) or StarGate SG-1. Even Andromeda with Kevin Sorbo is more sophisticated, but I was surprised by the twist in the 14-15 episodes of the Legends. As a russian man born in USSR, I always wondered, why so called “free” democratic countries finance really bad totalitarian regimes like Putin’s Russia or North Korea? Legends of Tomorrow season 1 has quite original answer that I’ve hardly ever read about or heard before. It’s very cute that writers put their serious ideas into simple comedic sci-fi. Nevertheless, Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 is worthy time wasting for all sci-fi collectioners like me.
