Not My Cup of Tea
From the very beginning, I couldn’t get into the combination of animation and regular film. I just found the people involved unappealing and the story to be unfulfilling. There is so much out there that could be done creatively. It’s entirely personal. See it if you wish. I was bored to death.
Tightly written, lovingly animated…
…this UK short is easily likened to “Whatever Happened to Roger Rabbit?” on acid. Alien spacecraft disgorge a shower of “toons” on an unsuspecting world; things are copacetic at first, but cute little animated critters soon morph into something entirely less benign. Auteur Owen “This is my calling card so far” Rixon (writer/director/DP/editor/producer/fx, etc.) has concocted a wonderful demonstration of his creative talents along with mates Callum Barton (who provided the score) and Siggy Stone (all co- creators) and the rest of the folks at The 2D Workshop. If you’re reading this to decide whether or not to waste time watching this little gem, stop reading and click over to YouTube or Vimeo now and track it down. This film deserves widespread attention.
Best wishes to the whole bloody lot of ’em, and thanks for the enterToonment™!
