It’s an old tale of personal failings, painfully bad parenting and addiction but it is told with a fresh and veryrealistic eye. Plus, you can never, ever go wrong with Allison Janey, Andrea Riseborough, Marc Maron in the cast. All the acting is truly outstanding.

One could pick at some of the weaknesses in exploring the personal journey, the too quick and tidy ending, but all in all, this is a very well done film.

Despite its dark subject, Andrea Riseborough pulls you in and hold your attention with a look, a pause, a gesture. It’s an almost painfully great performance and the supporting cast is all she could dream for.
