This is a line that has been quoted many times in the history of our world. After a few movies that Mahmoud Shoolizadeh as director and producer made in US, which have gotten several Awards, the newest Mahmoud’s movie, “The Lover”‘s point concerning true love is beautifully illustrated in it. The movie opens in the garden where Joe (the lover) an elderly man played by Jerry Wisner is sleeping in a very comfortable chair like he is slept and is frozen for years. It becomes clear that he is going through a deep experience. We hear his voice on his picture, it is his ego warning him to wake up as it is not the time to sleep: “this is the most important day of your life, your wedding anniversary, stand up Joe.” After a beautiful scene in the flower shop he leaves with a superb vase of white roses. However, problems arise, he has to deal with a distraught young lady with a baby and then his car fails to start. Joe receive a ride in order to go back home on time for his perfect wedding anniversary from a good Samaritan Bob, who turns out to be an undercover police officer. Joe spends time with his love Melody played by Stevie Conway. He expresses and shows his pure and tender nature human kind love to his beautiful wife. At the same time audience can see his nice love feeling. Joe enjoys the day with his lover, until Bob fixes and brings him back the car by other police officer, but they are the last ones Joe wants to see at his door. What is Joe hiding from them? Causing uneasy moments. As the review writer I will not reveal the next beautiful part of the film but you must see! I suggest that you go and see this unexpected story, so you will witness how eternal love is. The ending demonstrates this very clearly and perfect. Mahmoud who has gotten Master degree in Film Production with years of experience as director, professionally has made his beautiful film. Also he has once again assembled a very good Cast, how wonderful he has chosen and directed them that the actors in the film look like real people with a true story with real life. Outstanding is Jerry Wisner as Joe who shows deep feelings and knows how men need to express them. Stevie Conway is the dedicated spouse Melody. After a small role in Mahmoud’s last movie “Daddy” she has a lead role here and carries it off very well. The original music by George Palousis helps very well and reveals very nice love feeling during the film. The cinematography by Matt Miller is special part of the film with some effective floral shots in the flower shop sequence and with nice lighting in other parts of the film. The film is great directed and Produced by Mahmoud Shoolizadeh specially when we see he made it with almost zero budget and compare his creative job with other films with hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions. “The Lover” has been accepted to many film festival around the world so far, and this is a huge accomplishment for him, so congratulations and well done Mahmoud. At the end I should say Great lessons in living our lives are noteworthy: “Really we need more movies like this that show wonderful pure love as the only thing that really matters in our world today specially when there is so much violence, tragedy and crime around the world and a film that have a good story with a tender nature human subject with so much love and tenderness in it like “The Lover” is very good. Well done all Cast and Crew.
