Not the Worst Thing That I’ve Ever Seen…
For a low-budget indie flick, this isn’t too bad. It is labeled as a horror-comedy, and as such, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are numerous lines and references from “Predator”, most of which come in a humorous vein.

The premise is that a wannabe wilderness reality star, Kenny Wayne, goes off to hunt a legendary buck in the Pacific Northwest. The truth is that Kenny is a nincompoop, and any success that he has is due to his father, Jenkins Wayne. Jenkins does not go to the wilds of Washington to hunt this legendary, unusually aggressive buck, but Kenny’s trusty crew does go with him. Along the way, the group enlists the services of a guide who models himself as a grizzled Viet Nam vet who never actually served in that capacity, Remy.

A good portion of the film is played for laughs as the characters become more familiar with one another. Kenny’s ineptitude is on frequent display, such as when he claims that there are anacondas in the woods of Washington.

Long story short, the legendary buck hunt is a scam to market Kenny and his show, and Remy is in on it. Remy disappears from camp, ostensibly the victim of the killer buck, but this, too, is part of the scam.

Jenkins shows up to see how things are going, and stumbles onto Kenny’s scam. Things take a serious turn when Remy is actually killed by a large hairy beast that Kenny describes as a bear. The next night, Kenny and Jenkins disappear, and the cameraman and the sound girl go looking for them. Eventually, they find Kenny mourning over the dead body of Jenkins.

Even though the film takes a bit of a serious turn, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Kenny’s utter ineptitude is still in full display, and there are more humorous references to “Predator”. The movie eventually reveals that although there is no legendary buck, there is a carnivorous, aggressive Sasquatch. This is what actually killed Remy and Jenkins.

I won’t spill any more. If you’re bored silly, you may want to check this movie out. Again, it is a horror comedy, and the acting is wonderfully cheesy. It’s meant to be.
