A good story, good cast, and a good writer. Where could this movie go wrong?
The East: an environmentalist group following the philosophy of an eye for an eye. The movie follows Sarah, an agent trying to infiltrate The East. The movie was almost always exciting, but showed more of the emotional side of the characters.

I had a lot of fun with this one. At times I found myself holding my breath, and couldn’t figure out why. The movie had a good flow to it, with enough exciting parts to keep you from falling asleep. My biggest complaint with the movie is it didn’t go as deep into the emotional sides of things and felt like it wanted to be more of a mainstream movie because of it.

Wow, a film that de-constructs itself…
… which is something you don’t see everyday. The hallmark of a really bad film, as opposed to a film that only slightly misses the mark, is one that starts off doing one thing and ends up doing another. The first 10 minutes here are, it turns out, from an entirely different film and one which, with hindsight, the director should have pursued more vigorously. The first 10 minutes are fast paced and engaging, about a girl, who is part of a couple, who wants a special job really badly, and then gets it. Turns out the job is some sort of hi level corporate espionage, with the employer so successful that only their clients know they exist. Very promising. Would have have made a good film. Would have made a good TV series. However with no warning to the viewer the film suddenly becomes a “cult” expose, complete with the mandatory charismatic leader (Alexander Skarsgård, scruffy and lost here) and the rest of the tedious melodrama seems to be about whether the aforesaid girl above will espouse the cause of the cult. Been there. Done that. Watch TICKET TO HEAVEN.
