Better than most shorts. Some logic errors.
This short is well-done CGI and actually has a story and plot, which puts it above standard shorts these days.Only two logic flaws that I could detect: that TI would absorb humanity without creating a virtual world. Ti’s immense logic should have figured out from the start that would be no good– humans living as pure data. The second flaw is that Ti would think it could suppress human emotion and longing, that such would be considered a “flaw”. (I offer no spoilers here; these just lead up to the ultimate concept.) The ending is well-done, but has been done before in numerous movies dating all the way back to THX-1138.
All in all a well-done short, but without any true resolution or solution. As such it’s more of a “slice of life” than anything else. One thing I do appreciate: it nails the current human attitude right on the head– technology regardless of the cost. As if computers and cell phones and tablets are essential to enjoying life. We’ve lost the concept of an agricultural society and are destroying the very planet we live on in the process. As pointed out in the Matrix– we take the form of a “virus” that is slowly killing its host. If there’s any valid point this short makes… it is that.
