Watch: Servant or Slave 2016 123movies, Full Movie Online – Bringing to light the heartbreaking experiences of Rita Wright, Rita Wenberg, Violet West, Adelaide Wenberg and Valerie Linow, Servant or Slave is a film of courage, strength and the fortitude to pursue justice for the crimes committed against them after being stolen from their families, trained to be domestic servants and forced into indentured labour. Theirs is a David and Goliath battle, not only for personal retribution, but also for the next generation of Aboriginal people to come.
Plot: During the time of the Stolen Generations, thousands upon thousands of Aboriginal girls were taken from their families and pressed into domestic servitude by the Australian Government. They were supposedly employed as servants, but with total control over their movements, wages and living conditions, their lives all too frequently became an inescapable cycle of abuse, rape and enslavement, with consequences that echo powerfully to this day. Recounting the stories of five of these women – Rita, Violet and the three Wenberg sisters – Servant or Slave is a commanding piece of first-person testimony to a dark and unacknowledged corner of Australian history. Shot with admirable craft and humanity by documentarian Steven McGregor (Croker Island Exodus, MIFF 2012), Servant or Slave is a work of great sadness and urgency, bringing to forceful life the human tragedy of Australia’s Indigenous history in the unadorned words of those who lived it.

Very informative
I came across this on Prime and watched it because I’m studying childcare and some modules are about working with A&I families, community groups and staff. This documentary was very helpful in understanding the government’s past treatment of indigenous people and how this continues to affect them and their descendants today. Definitely one I’d recommend to anyone.
Necessary viewing
A heartbreaking and enraging documentary about the Stolen Generations of Indigenous people in Australia. Several Aboriginal women share their stories of their forced removal as very young children, their lives in the missions and care homes and how they were forced to work for almost nothing. They share their traumas and loss of identity and how they are still waiting for reparations from government many generations after these terrible practices began.Donating to the healing foundation after watching this.
