Watch: TBS 2008 123movies, Full Movie Online – Johan, convicted for the murder of his father and sister, has been locked up in a TBS clinic (a hospital for criminals with a psychical disorder) for years. When he hears he will be transfered to a Long Stay ward – where nobody has ever been released from – he hopes his mother, who he hasn’t spoken for years, will come to his hearing so she can tell the judge he didn’t murder his sister, that his father abused him and was about to abuse his sister and that Johan therefore killed his father. However, his mother doesn’t turn up. Realizing he’s out of options, he escapes, determined to find his mother, so she can write a statement saying what really happened. Pretty soon however, he gets pursued by the police and in a rather desperate attempt to stay out of their hands, he kidnaps a 13-year old girl, Tessa. Together they drive through the Netherlands and Belgium to find his mother..

Down to earth and touching at the same time
This film premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. It’s about a criminal who’s under a special type of therapy, TBS. He manages to escape. The TBS method is very controversial and is often criticized in the Netherlands for the amount of escaped criminals lately. Director Pieter Kuijpers achieves to create an interesting mood, blending fear, violence, feelings of safety and dreamy thoughts in one paranoia mixture. This atmosphere is really powerful and easily keeps this movie interesting along the way. I’m not sure about the performance of Theo Maassen (he’s a dutch comedian, couldn’t really get that thought out of my head) but he’s not a miscast. Lisa Smit surely fulfills her roll decently. The script is excellent and suspense is present at almost every moment. It’s really powerful. I found the use of sound impressive, it’s pretty special and powerful.

Overall it’s just a great movie. It’s still lingers in my mind a bit. I would recommended this film to everyone.

Impressed by the actor, but not the film
Yes, I am impressed too… but only by the play of Theo Maassen. I think he is the only Dutch actor (and Dutchman in general!) that I really and truly like. The film itself though is not just predictable, but also lacks sense, purpose: what was it made for? To plead for capital punishment or for life term in prison that would really mean life, because some people just have no place in the society and cannot be changed? It is unclear. Some might say “to entertain”, but I think a society that finds watching murders being committed on screen “entertaining” is even more sick than the killers! Overall, very impressive Maassen and quite bleak poorly written script.
