Plot: Northern Disco Lights tells the untold story of a group of teenagers in the arctic city of Tromsø, who set off a chain of events that would go on to transform their country. To escape the boredom of growing up in a remote outpost they created their own music scene, setting up radio stations, parties, building synthesizers and making tunes. Word spread as like-minded souls recognised the call to arms and inspired a generation of kids who would go on to change dance music and Norway forever.

I wish I knew about these artists earlier
I’m Norwegian. I’ve been listening to electronic music since ’93. Everything from Trance, Gabber, D&B, (Hard)House, to Techno.Thought I had heard it all, yet I was totally oblivious to many of the artists in this film.
The documentary really opened up my mind to a sub-genre that I didn’t even know existed, God knows why.
It’s bitter-sweet. Bitter because I feel like I’ve missed out, yet I’m thrilled to discover something new.
Whether you listen to Electronic Music or not, I’m 100% certain that you will find this documentary interesting.
Absolutely loved it.
RIP to Erot, that part really hit home.
