Spoiled by music music music
I tried to watch this made for TV movie today, but had to give up after half an hour. Why may you ask?Simply that the dialogue could not be heard due to the constant non stop music. What is it about Larry Levinson productions or Hallmark Films that we have to have music, music, and more music all the time?
The personnel who arrange for non stop music in these budget production films should be castrated and boiled in their own oil. Music is fine in the right place and can enhance a film and often does, but to play music non stop, especially over the actor’s dialogue is totally wrong.
Perhaps they feel the film cannot stand on it’s own feet without non-stop music, but they have made a big mistake.
Mending Fences- Another Larry Levinson Good Feeling Production ***
This is still another typical Larry Levinson production on Hallmark television. Something is always happening to drive a person home where they find love and contentment after 2 hours. This picture is no exception and it is also nicely done. After losing her job as a television anchor, her ex-husband fired her, a woman and a daughter go to the woman’s mother’s home in Nevada.
Angie Dickinson is the mother. She is losing her sight but still stubborn enough not to sell her home to casino developers.
If Angie is losing her sight and her condition is getting worse, how come she is able to shoot as if she were Annie Oakley?
Naturally, water from the small Nevada town is being diverted by the casino people to drive the people of the town out. Our reporter uncovers this and as usual finds a love interest. The young daughter finds love with a non-talking guy who is the grandson of the journalism teacher that our ex-anchor had.
What saves this film is how our reporter is able to find out what’s going on and expose the head of the corporation as well as a mayor who is as corrupt as they come.
