A good war film
I found this war film very enjoyable. The story and acting was good as was the design. It has good moments of suspense and was like an old fashion picture of bravery and winning over the bad guys. The characters are interesting with the central protagonist Max Manus being someone we do care about.

It is good to look at with some very good photography at the outside locations. I particularly enjoyed the night scenes during the sabotage sequences in the harbour.

I would say a good film to watch for teenagers and adults.

It is a foreign language film with subtitles.

Great WW2 drama
After serving with Norwegian forces in Finland against the Soviets in 1940, Max Manus returns to Norway onto to it invaded and occupied by the Nazis. He organises a resistance movement but this is initially badly done, resulting in him having to flee to Britain. There, with training from the British, free Norwegians are trained and formed into formidable commando units with Max as one of their most capable and successful commanders.

Great WW2 drama, based on a true story. Solid plot that seems highly accurate and plausible, militarily. I don’t know the exact details of Max Manus’s endeavours but the events shown here are very believable and don’t feel like they were embellished. There’s a grittiness to it all.

The arc of Max Manus’s story doesn’t just cover his wartime exploits but also aim and the end result – the end of WW2 and liberation of Norway. Here the point of his actions is brought home in a very telling and emotional way.
