Watch: Nóż w wodzie 1962 123movies, Full Movie Online – Well off Andrzej and Krystyna’s marriage is at a stage where familiarity breeds contempt, that contempt which is outwardly shown only behind closed doors and only when an incident of some sort sets off one or the other. While driving through the countryside on a Sunday on their way to the lake to embark on an overnight sailing excursion, they almost run over a young male hitchhiker. Despite the antagonism between Andrzej and the hitchhiker, Andrzej offers him a ride as far as the marina. By the time they reach the lake, their antagonism has dissipated enough that Andrzej asks if he would like to join them on their sailing trip. The hitchhiker accepts despite knowing nothing about sailing. As the sailing trip progresses, the antagonism between the two men begins to increase again, fueled on both sides as each strives to be the alpha male. Andrzej needs to show his superiority, while the hitchhiker needs to show that his young age and inexperience, not only with sailing but with life in general, do not make him any less of a man in comparison. Later incidents demonstrate that their relationship may have been different if Krystyna was not in the picture. The hitchhiker’s pocket knife, seemingly his most prized possession on his person, becomes a symbol of that power struggle between the two men. If the three emerge from their sailing trip alive, they may be forever changed by their encounter..
Plot: On their way to an afternoon on the lake, husband and wife Andrzej and Krystyna nearly run over a young hitchhiker. Inviting the young man onto the boat with them, Andrzej begins to subtly torment him; the hitchhiker responds by making overtures toward Krystyna. When the hitchhiker is accidentally knocked overboard, the husband’s panic results in unexpected consequences.

Superb!
This film is a masterpiece for a movie fan that understands sharp dialog and is interested in so called “mind” suspense. Characters in the movie are psychologically fully developed and the direction is superb; if you include Komeda’s nervous jazz elements, the result is Perfection with big P. Polanski knows exactly what perfectionism is about – the devil is in the details, and the devil has no place in this great little classic. I recommend this movie to everyone that wants to get involved in film industry. Let it be the reminder why movies exist in the first place. It’s the story that matters and it’s the impact that dialog provides; if scenes or words stay with you long after you’ve seen the movie, you know that something BIG has hit you. You know that you actually start THINKING about yourself…
circle of knife
Roman Polanski’s first feature film set the stage for a career marked by some of the most intense movies ever. And “Nóż w wodzie” (“Knife in the Water” in English) is one such movie. I watched an interview with Roman Polanski and Jerzy Skolimowski, and they noted that a trick that the movie uses is that Krystyna looks dowdy at the beginning but becomes more attractive as the movie progresses. Meanwhile, the men engage in a battle of wits (or manliness?). The isolated setting and black-and-white cinematography serve to emphasize the intense plot. The jazz soundtrack and lack of socialist realism in the plot caused friction with Poland’s Soviet-backed authorities, so Polanski left the country. His life since then has been a series of bad things (the murder of his wife, and then his rape of an underage girl). But even so, you can’t deny that he has made some of the best movies ever. I highly recommend this one.
I don’t know whether or not Jolanta Umecka starred in anything after this.
