A very enjoyable movie.
Ethan Hawke’s Tucker looking for the reset in life most of us wish we had. Oh to do things over and do them right. This was a wonderfully casted movie. I am in danger of becoming a Chris O’Dowd groupie. He must be so busy. I keep doing searches on him and find more gems he is in. And as a bonus, the Kink’s Waterloo Sunset, on my list of top ten tunes. That song takes me to placces i have never been and love I have never known. I am not a reviewer and can only say I like what i like. I liked this movie and hop you enjoy it as much as I did.

Annie Platt (Rose Byrne) is stuck in life. She took over her small English seaside hometown’s museum from her dying father years ago. She’s in a stale relationship with Duncan Thomson (Chris O’Dowd) who is obsessed with obscure 90’s alternative rocker Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke) and his one record Juliet. She finds herself wanting a baby but Duncan blocks any discussion. When the demo entitled “Juliet, Naked” shows up, it leads to a life changing connection between Annie and Tucker Crowe.

The first part is a little off but once Annie and Tucker starts exchanging emails, the movie gets on track. I love Rose Byrne. She’s charming and fun and light. Ethan Hawke does a compelling washed up musician. Chris O’Dowd confused me a little at first. I assumed this to be his movie but it’s not. It’s the only thing I would change. The movie opens with an internet vlog of Duncan explaining his love for Tucker. It’s a bit of an exposition dump. It would be much more effect for him to furiously explain it to someone who doesn’t care. Being a Nick Hornby book, he is probably more connected with Duncan. The movie needs to start with Annie since she’s the protagonist. There are scenes that surprise me like his call to Grace. Rose Byrne continues to deliver comedy with an adorably light touch. This is a charmer.
