Dazzling and heartbreaking in every way imaginable.

Eccleston and Winslet give career performances, Hossein Amini’s screenplay is judicious and honest, and Winterbottom’s direction and cinematography capture everything there is in Hardy’s greatest novel.

Unmissible, unparallelled, and devastatingly beautiful.

Otherwise of some reviewers I never read no one commentary of them before to watch the movie, for a simple concept to keep my own reading of the whole thing, that’s my sacred rules, on Judy I’ve recognize that expect a story of fight and resilience, due the good nature restrained in the main character of Jude (Christopher Eccleston) since his hardy childhood, also when he was advised by his teacher Phillotson (Liam Cunningham) that the future was in the books and the Christminster should be his destination, thenceforth Jude becomes a hard self student on Latin and Greek language hope has an opportunity among the scholars at Christminster University.

Sadly Jude in tender age his previous plan went down the drain spelled by a scheming farm girl Arabella (Rachel Griffiths) backslidden by sexual interest, the marriage was a flop of two ways, Arabella went to Australia, as free man Jude pursued his dreams at Christminster, arriving there he finds his pretty and advanced cousin Sue (Kate Winslet) the attraction is easy noticed, love at first sight, meanwhile Jude works as stonemason while expecting an answer of the University to work there as language’s teacher, the refusal came soon, quite sure by his lowest roots and foregoing status, Jude sees his world collapses.

To worsen he witnessed his beloved Sue willing to marry the older Phillotson, the embittered guy enter on spiral of deep sadness, when he saw his ex-wife Arabella back on England, however there’s nothing between them, aside some sexual meeting, after a brief absence he received Sue at his home for a night, ruefully some rumors arose of this unexpected fact about a sexual involvement of both in such night, actually they love each other, it doesn’t takes too long and Sue dismisses his husband to live with Jude without a properly divorce and at church’s eyes which she despises due her belief, its somehow stigmatize the couple for good.

Also the bleak Arabella appears to reveals Jude a hidden secret, actually she went pregnant to Australia and had a baby that stayed there, but no longer the family can’t afford the boy, his name is also Jude, the couple accepts him at your poor home, meanwhile Sue had two children a girl and later a little boy, somehow successive moving searching for a better life, hard days are coming faster, extreme poverty, lack of labor, squalid lodging and many children to feed is a dangerous ground, tragic happenings comes, devastating their live.

Quite often the best pictures comes from literally adaptations, Thomas Hardy’s novel is great story, dismally tale of woe, l’d stayed by a sudden twist all the time and really expecting that it will come even in the last minute, Hardy tried expose this obscure side of life that commonly the society pretends not to see, sweeping under the carpet, but its happen quite often that we can imagine, I’ve wondering myself why certain good people weren’t allowed to be barely happy in this valley of tears, near masterpiece!!
