What is a Critic?
Do any of you understand what it means to review a movie? It is not your job or place to tear down a film simply because you did not like it. A review is meant to help an audience understand the positive and negative aspects of a product. If you were to be so prudent to say there were no positive aspects to this movie, then you must be too ignorant to have noticed them. As for the movie, it received a four star rating simply because the flow of the movie was disrupted by the numerous short and obvious father vs. step-father escapades, and for the fact that it was meant for entertainment, not inspiration. However, contrary to many of the other reviews, if you like Larry and his low-brow style of comedy, then you will certainly find yourself laughing several times throughout the film.
not good
Larry (Larry the Cable Guy) is generally a slacker except for his love for his daughter Noel. His ex-wife Trish has married the box tycoon Victor who is desperate to create the biggest Christmas to win over Noel. Larry is desperate to compete and is willing to do almost anything including reading Noel’s letter to Santa. Unable to read her spelling, he assumes it to be a hot selling talking bear. Victor orders his security man Welling to buy out the bears.I have nothing against Larry the Cable Guy but he’s just not that funny. It’s the gentlest of comedy. There is no edge in sight. It’s not that bad as long as one keeps one’s expectations down. The production is also pretty low grade. Its heart is mostly in the right place. Its comedy is not that funny. Larry has limited charisma. Expectations have to kept low to believe a giant factory has only one exit or that cell phone signals can be blocked by metal buildings. One way to improve it significantly is to make Welling the sole villain. He can go overboard with Victor’s order which would leave Victor as only misguided. This is mostly watchable all the way through to the end. That’s the most good I can say about it.
