Realistic and appalling
The most notable thing about this movie is its aura of authenticity which naturally leaves you utterly shocked and wondering what your discomfort has been for. Is it about the disappointment watching humans so disgraceful and degenerate? Are their actions dictated by the primal instincts or the moral decadence? At the end, you are the one who feels uneasy and sorry for realizing that.

How Do You Like Your Intestines Cooked?
The title, HUMAN HIBACHI, and poster should give you a pretty good idea that you’re in for one gory, depraved ride. And on that trip, this low-budget indie really delivers.

But wait! There’s more. Fans of dark, twisted humor will enjoy this one. I generally don’t like horror-comedy, but it works here.

HUMAN HIBACHI is shot in found-footage style and off the top of my head I can’t think of another demented gorefest that does the same. A couple films that the story reminds me are the excellent CANNIBAL FARM and THE BUTCHER (dir Michael Moutsatsos).

Is HUMAN HIBACHI a perfect film? Not by any measure. But is it a sick, bloody, fun 90mins? Hell ya. It’s an entertaining film, ideal for late nights, that I’d recommend to anyone who isn’t too squeamish. 6/10 stars
