Asylum-set indie serial killer thrills
CATATONIA is a very low budget indie thriller set in perhaps the screen’s most unconvincing asylum. The main character is a catatonic girl who just so happens to be the sole survivor of a massacre which caused her present condition. Having your lead not do or say anything throughout your film is a real chore, and about the only things they get right here are the costumes. The rest is cheap and amateurish, slow and unengaging, only picking up for the climax.
