Watch: Bruce Springsteen: The Promise – The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town 2010 123movies, Full Movie Online – Bruce Springsteen’s “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” released in 1978, was three years in the making, 10 songs chosen from 70 written and rehearsed during that period. Using archival footage from the studio and contemporary interviews with Springsteen, the E Street Band, and those who were in the control room, the film presents a portrait of an artist driving himself to capture working-class life with a rough and raw sound that felt more like a live performance than a studio recording..
Plot: The ninety-minute film combines never-before-seen footage of Springsteen and the E Street Band shot between 1976 and 1978—including home rehearsals and studio sessions — with new interviews with Springsteen, E Street Band members, manager Jon Landau, former-manager Mike Appel, and others closely involved in the making of the record.

Another good Springsteen doc
Darkness on the Edge of Town is a favourite for many die hard bruce fans… but I can’t fully count myself among one of them.I still think it is a very good album – maybe you just need to be in a more specific mood to properly enjoy it, compared to something like Born To Run – and this documentary did a pretty good job at telling the story of its creation, as well as highlighting what makes it a classic in the eyes of so many fans.
I did particularly love the old behind the scenes footage, especially Bruce and Steven messing around with a very fun, very loose early version of Sherry Darling, later polished up for 1980’s The River.
Also, Clarence Clemons was just wonderful. This was made not long before his passing. Though I wasn’t an E Street Band fan until about 2016, in a way, I still feel the immense loss of the Big Man, and the essential role he played in so many of Springsteen’s best albums.
Must-see for all music-lovers, Springsteen fans or not
If you haven’t seen this documentary yet, watch it. I’ve never been a die-hard Springsteen fan but this is an incredible tale of artistry and it’s hard to imagine anyone who is either a listener or involved in the creative process not appreciating what they did. It’s a story of how magic comes from balancing visionary and obsession, friendship and oppression, cooperation and standing your ground.Springsteen talking about the album in retrospect is lucid and insightful, but the amount of footage they have from the actual recording sessions is incredible.
Inspiring and a must-see for all music-lovers, Springsteen fans or not.
