Nice story
Like all Larry Levinson movies the plot is a bit predictable. While this film is being touted as premiering on June 11th it’s actually been running for several months on the new channel called Pixl under the name Mystery Girl. As I enjoy that channel I’ve probably seen this film about 4 or 5 times. Comparing the two titles I think that Mystery Girl fits a bit better because of a minor aspect of the film called the Mystery Site. The basic premise is one of a boy likes girl, but this one has a little plot twist. The character development is good on the three main characters, but could use a little bit more depth on the secondary parts. The email is a nice touch to bring it into modern times. Just wouldn’t have worked with a phone number. It certainly is worth a watch on either the Hallmark Channel or on Pixl.
Really? Part 2
The reviewer who asked “Really?” missed the real problems with this movie. First, I find it hard to believe that Ben somehow never noticed that Chloe actually spelled her last name with an “e”, nor that Charly’s last name was also Anderson with an “o”. Second, I also find it hard to believe that Charley never mentioned her secret admirer to Ben, and that Ben didn’t find it odd that Chloe never mentioned to him that she was receiving e-mails from a secret admirer. Third, why didn’t Ben figure out that something was amiss when Chloe’s preferences didn’t match what the e-mails stated (e.g. pesto)? Fourth, why didn’t Charly mention that she was a single mom in her e-mails? And finally, I really don’t understand why Charly didn’t tell Ben what she looked like when they were finally going to meet, so that he would know who to look for at the outdoor patio they were meeting at. There are just too many unlikely circumstances in this movie for my taste. Thank God Chloe finally spilled the beans to these two clueless idiots so they could live happily ever after.
