1898: Our Last Men in the Philippines 2016 123movies

Los últimos de Filipinas 2016 123movies, Full Movie Online – In 1898, Spain sends a military squad to the town of Baler, Philippines, to protect one of the last colonies of the Spanish Empire, to avoid rebellious natives from recovering its ancient territories. Lead by Captain Enrique de las Morenas and Lieutenant Cerezo, proud military men, the soldiers are stalked by night by the rebels, and are forced to seek refuge in the church run by Fray Carmelo, Baler’s priest. Turning the church into a military fort, the unrelenting heat and malaria starts to sweep across the men. After the Captain’s death by a disease called beriberi, Cerezo steps in as the new leader of the squad, faced with a constant power struggle with Jimeno, a soldier from the previous squad annihilated by the rebels. Becoming more and more paranoid and obsessive with the victory and the glory of the Spanish Empire, the rebels close to Cerezo explain that Spain has already sold the Philippine Islands to the USA, ceding all the colonies from the Spanish Empire, and that the war is over. But Cerezo does not believe in the newspapers given by the rebels and is still obsessed to win at all cost. He makes a last stand in the church with his men, prolonging the battle to several months where one of the soldiers, Carlos, who falls victim to opium, searches a way to end the conflict, suspecting that all is lost, and wanting to prevent the death of his comrades..
Plot: The Philippines, 1898. Fifty Spanish soldiers arrive in the small village of Baler to rebuild an outpost. Although the war against the Filipinos and their American allies is almost lost, as is the Spanish Empire, the garrison will endure a cruel siege for eleven months. They will be the last to surrender.

Amazing Story
This is simply the best movie I have watched all year. The amazing quality of this film surpasses anything Hollywood has produced in years. The tale of true warriors fighting on for their very lives is truly moving and tells a story few of us know. I am a strong supporter of more movies like this being produce. I would heavenly recommend it to anyone.

for a Military buffs collection
Been to Baler a couple of times so i would say this substitute location is quite accurate. Pacing is a little slow at times, (its a siege).but still a solid story that could be shortened a bit.

Warning! SOME SPOILERS:the writers and director have taken many artistic liberties, 1. in 1898 public display of nudity and sex on a public square on these strictly conservative islands(and isolated backwater, Baler)will get you flogged and stoned(even if you’re the town whore)immediately. 2. There are NO ORANGES in Luzon Island or Sierra Madre. Nitpicking aside this scene quite knocks me out of my mood.
