“The Best Laid Plans” expertly leverages mainstay attributes from the genres of comedy, heist, and buddy movie to present an unbroken assault of highly engaging, caper-based fun.

Jealous and cash poor, a group of young male friends are bent when a former classmate wins the lottery. Logically, a kidnapping is deemed appropriate. And once the target is stashed in the getaway car, “The Best Laid Plans” steps on the accelerator and takes itself (and us) to joyous next levels.

The casting of each of these non-threatening, hard-not-to-love buffoons is truly spot-on.
