Way to destroy a classic
What was that? I’ve read the novel some years ago and… that was not it. Yes, it IS a long book, and it’s hard to adapt such a story to make it fit a 2 hours movie, but whoever chose that the last 1/3 of the book should be skipped altogether was an idiot. I was looking forward to watching this movie, and was very disappointed. The story wasn’t touching, the characters weren’t either… Jean Valjean was so touching in Hugo’s novel. You suffered with him, cried for him, cheered for him and wished he could (finally) enjoy his life, and stop carrying his heavy burden. That’s what the story should be about. That’s what the movie is not about. Shame.

Do yourself a favor : skip this version.

Next they’ll do a Romeo & Juliet that ends without them dying(!) A good story doesn’t always need to have a cute happy ending.
