I loved this
This reminds me a lot of some of the early episodes of High Maintenance (now, sadly, it seems, no longer available anywhere), which I mean very much as a compliment. It’s a realistic, funny, fairly open-ended slice of life.

Mostly, people do too much with shorts, not too little. They try to wow you with big concepts or special effects, and it’s not impressive, it’s boring and needy.

All this one is is an irritable, basically dysfunctional couple wandering around trying and failing to find a place to eat – partly hampered by their paleo-seeming no-carb diet – but it’s completely engaging. It’s also beautifully and economically executed, from writing to shooting to performances.

Uninteresting script
“We’ll Find Something” is a 12-minute short film from earlier this year written and directed by Casey Gooden. We follow a couple who is in New York and looking for a place to eat. This is basically the entire action. However, their starving is by far not their worst problem as there seem to be some serious struggles present in their relationship. Jealousy and the woman’s plan to move somewhere else are only two issues. Unfortunately, even if the acting by the duo isn’t bad, the movie never achieves really anything. I was not particularly entertained watching this one and I cannot say it got me curious about Gooden’s earlier works. Not recommended.
